The Hugo Scheu Museum in Šilutė, in cooperation with the Office of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, has implemented the project “The Development of the Website Dedicated to the Nazi Germany POW Camp and the Soviet Union GULAG camps in Macikai,” the aim of which is to remind the residents of Lithuania and foreign countries of the consequences of the activities of both totalitarian regimes in the territory of the complex of Macikai POW and GULAG camps as well as in their immediate surroundings in the historical context of entire Europe.
kuriuo siekiama Lietuvos ir užsienio valstybių gyventojams aktualizuoti 1941-1955 m. abiejų totalitarinių režimų veiklas Macikų lagerio komplekso teritorijoje ir jo artimoje aplinkoje padarinius visos Europos istorijos kontekste.
While implementing the project, exhaustive historical and visual material about the history of the Nazi Germany POW camp and the Soviet Union GULAG camps in Macikai (1941-1955) was collected and placed on the website. There is a possibility for website visitors to submit any available information about the people who were imprisoned here.
